October 24 (Renewables Now) - Specialist asset manager Greencoat Capital LLP has agreed to acquire on behalf of several pension fund clients the owner of a 40-MW biomass power plant in the UK.

More specifically, Greencoat Capital has signed a deal to take over Templeborough Biomass Power Plant Ltd (TBPP) from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for an undisclosed sum. This is its first investment in a bioenergy asset, it said.

TBPP owns a waste wood biomass plant located in Rotherham that has been operating since early 2019. Greencoat Capital noted that the facility can produce enough power to meet the annual consumption of about 78,000 households.

Rothschild & Co and Mirae Asset Daewoo Co Ltd served as financial advisers to the seller, while Evercore, Poyry and Eco2 consulted Greencoat.
