Aug 20, 2013 - US ethanol producer Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc (NASDAQ:GPRE) said Monday it would on August 21 cut the ribbon of the ethanol production facility in Nebraska that it acquired in June.
Green Plains has kicked off commercial operations at the Atkinson, Nebraska refinery on July 22. After certain improvements were completed the facility is now running at full capacity.
Green Plains purchased the dry-mill ethanol plant in Atkinson from Choice Ethanol Holdings LLC for an undisclosed amount. The facility is seen to boost by 50 million gallons Green Plain's current ethanol output, which stands at 740 million gallons (3.4 bn litres) a year, the firm had said previously. As part of the deal, it also acquired an ethanol storage and loading facility with about 24,000 barrels of ethanol, located near the factory.
