Sep 26, 2012 - US firm Green Energy Renewable Solutions Inc (PINK: EWRL) today said it had formed a 50/50 joint venture (JV) with Puerto Rican Landfill Solutions LLC to carry out their joint municipal waste processing project.
In August, the companies unveiled an agreement for a USD-100-million (EUR 77.7m) project to remediate the Yabucoa municipal landfill in Puerto Rico and install a 15-MW waste-to-energy and recycling facilities to separate and process the incoming municipal solid waste.
The JV, dubbed Yabucoa Recycling Company Inc, will undertake the initial phase of the project, which includes construction of a road access and internal roadways, run-off and flood control and slope stabilisation to bring the site in compliance with the regulatory standards of Puerto Rico's environmental control authority Autoridad De Desperdicios Solidos (ADS).
Separately, Green Energy has established a wholly-owned Puerto Rico unit, named Green Renewable Solutions Inc, to develop and manage the second phase of the Yabucoa project, which includes the conversion of waste upon separation of the recyclable materials to energy and fuels.
Green Energy is engaged in development of municipal solid waste processing and recycling facilities.
