April 1 (Renewables Now) - Energy technology developer Origami Energy Ltd announced today that the 10-MW Lower Road battery project in the UK had been grid-connected.

The storage system, located in Brentwood, Essex, is owned by Gore Street Energy Storage Fund plc (LON:GSF). It is using the smart technology platform developed by Origami to provide additional capacity and grid balancing services.

SSE Business Energy of UK utility SSE Plc (LON:SSE) is the licensed supplier and power off-taker for the battery, Origami said.

The Lower Road storage facility uses batteries supplied by NEC Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Japan's NEC Corp (TYO:6701).
