Gore Street Energy Storage Fund plc (LON:GSF) today said the 50-MW Drumkee energy storage project in Northern Ireland has been energised.
Drumkee is the biggest energy storage facility in Northern Ireland. The fund's other 50-MW project in the country, called Mullavilly, is scheduled for energisation in December. The two facilities are due to be commissioned and start operation in the first quarter of 2021.
With DS3 contracts and attractive return profiles, the two projects are due to exceed Gore Street's target internal rate of return of 10% for portfolio assets.
Once they are operational, the facilities will bring the total operational capacity of Gore Street to 210 MW.
Gore Street owns and operates the projects in partnership with investment platform Low Carbon.
