Jun 9, 2014 - New Zealand Crown Research Institute GNS Science on Friday unveiled a partnership agreement with Philippine-based Energy Development Corp (PSE:EDC), or EDC, that will focus on the development of geothermal projects in several countries.
GNS Science have been providing technical advice, training and expert reviews for EDC’s projects in the Philippines and in South America in the past two years. The new contract will add one more year to the existing relationship and expand the scope of the collaboration to international geothermal developments in which EDC has an interest, mainly in Peru, Chile and Indonesia.
According to EDC’s chief operating officer Richard Tantoco, GNS Science’s services has helped enhance the management of several geothermal fields and promoted measures to cut costs, complexity and risk.
The New Zealand institute has been providing geothermal consultancy services in the Philippines for more than 10 years. It helps in the evaluation of fields for prospective developments and also facilitates operational improvements for existing fields. In addition, it provides analysis of geothermal fluids.
EDC’s installed geothermal power capacity amounts to 1,130 MW.
