Swedish renewables developer OX2 AB (STO:OX2) and Ingka Investments have received the green light from the County Administrative Board of Skane to build the up-to-1.5-GW Triton offshore wind farm.
The two partners said in a joint statement that the project could enter the construction phase as early as 2027, subject to final approval by the Swedish government.
“We are working in parallel to secure cable connection to the grid as well as signing agreements with suppliers to be able to start as soon as all permits are in place,” commented Emelie Zakrisson, Head of Offshore Wind Development in Sweden at OX2. The company has already awarded the supply of cable and monopile foundations to NKT and with EEW SPC, respectively.
The Triton wind project is planned to be realised 23 kilometres off the coast of Skane. If built, the wind farm will have the capacity to generate some 7 TWh of electricity, corresponding to roughly half the power consumption in Skane. Frederik de Jong, Head of renewable energy investments at Ingka, stated that a speedy permit process could allow the wind farm to start power generation before 2030.
