GIG sheds 170 MW of Nordic wind farms to Vauban

Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group has divested a 170-MW Nordic wind farm portfolio to Vauban Infrastructure Partners in a deal marking the European asset management firm's first investment in the wind power segment.

The deal was announced on Monday by law firm Watson Farley & Williams, which was GIG’s legal advisor. Financial details about the transaction were not available.

The offloaded portfolio was held by Nordic Renewable Power Holding. It consists of three wind farms, namely the 80-MW Buheii and the 47-MW Tysvaer in Norway and the 43-MW Hornamossen in Sweden. The plants are located within the NO2 and SE3 Nord Pool electricity zones

The Buheii and Tysvaer wind farms are operating under power purchase agreements (PPAs) with French industrial group Eramet and will be supplying it with green electricity for its Norwegian smelters through 2038.

GIG acquired the Hornamossen project from developer OX2 in 2019 and took possession of Tysvaer later in the same year. The purchase of Buheii from UK-based RES Group was finalised in 2020.
