September 30 (Renewables Now) - Green Investment Group Ltd (GIG), part of Australian investment bank Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX:MQG), said Thursday that it has acquired the rights for the Kattegatt Offshore Wind project, which is anticipated to install up to 260 MW in Swedish waters.

The rights were acquired from Swedish wind energy developer Agrivind AB under undisclosed terms.

The Kattegatt project is consented and currently in the development stage. The wind farm will be located off the coast of the Falkenberg municipality.

Sweden currently has 191 MW of operational offshore wind power capacity. By 2035, this figure could reach 4 GW, GIG said citing projections by Swedish TSO Svenska kraftnat.

GIG has about 14 GW worth of projects in its global offshore wind development pipeline. More recently, the investor group partnered with Vargronn and Agder Energi to bid for an area in Norway’s Sorlige Nordsjo II zone, which could host up to 3 GW of offshore wind.
