Gevo gets order to supply jet fuel to US Air Force
Sep 28, 2011 - US biofuels firm Gevo Inc (NASDAQ:GEVO) said today it had won a USD 600,000 (EUR 440,500) contract from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to deliver jet fuel to the US Air Force (USAF).
The order calls for Gevo to provide the USAF with up to 11,000 gallons (41,640 litres) of alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) based fuel, to be used for engine testing and feasibility flight demonstration.
The company will ship 7,000 gallons of the ATJ fuel to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and may latter supply a further 4,000 gallons if DLA makes use of an option under the contract.
Gevo will produce the particular fuel from isobutanol at its Texas-based hydrocarbon processing demonstration facility in collaboration with South Hampton Resources.
First shipments are expected in the first quarter if 2012.
