June 21 (Renewables Now) - Global Energy Services (GES), a Spanish construction company that serves the wind and solar sectors, said today it has bought hydropower plant builder Hidroproyectos.

With this move, effective as from June 19, GES adds hydropower to its wind-and-solar-focused portfolio. It expects this transaction to consolidate the company’s offerings in the main markets where it is active -- Spain, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and the EMEA, it said.

Hidroproyectos designs and builds hydropower facilities, taking care of all aspects involved in the planning and execution, from the early stage through the design phase. The firm is engaged in the procurement and project management, as well as in the commissioning process. In addition, it offers operation and maintenance (O&M) services.

The value of the acquisition was not given.
