June 2 (Renewables Now) - German wind turbine technology specialist Wpd Windmanager Technik GmbH has acquired domestic sector company Deutsche Windtechnik Umspannwerke GmbH to expand its electrical engineering services.

The acquired business, part of wind turbine technology specialist Deutsche Windtechnik AG, specialises in the technical management of substations and provides services such as monitoring, switching and control, maintenance, testing and repairs. The two companies have partnered on various projects, Wpd said on Wednesday.

"With the acquisition of Deutsche Windtechnik Umspannwerke, we are now taking the next step and expand the portfolio of our electrical engineering services - from wind energy or PV systems to transfer stations and substations," said Wpd Windmanager's managing director Nils Bruemmer.

Wpd Windmanager has electrotechnical expertise in all aspects of wind farms, solar farms and their connection and Deutsche Windtechnik Umspannwerke with its substation services fits in very well, according to Frank Lorenzen, long-standing managing director of Deutsche Windtechnik Umspannwerke.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal follows the acquisition of the business division of Oldenburg-based Oltec Service GmbH at the beginning of 2022 which boosted Wpd Windmanager's electrical engineering operations, adding services in the area of control systems and transmission technology.

Wpd Windmanager Technik is a sister company of German renewables developer Wpd AG which has installed more than 5 GW of offshore and onshore wind as well as solar.
