(SeeNews) – Jul 23, 2012 – The German government ruled last week that all older photovoltaic (PV) systems must be retrofitted, in order to make the grid more stable.
Electricity distribution network operators are required to retrofit the solar power plants that disconnect from the grid when the network frequency exceeds 50.2 Hz.
Operators will have to make the upgrade to their systems within three years.
Half of the costs will be covered by network charges and the other half by Renewable Energies Act (EEG) surcharges.
