German GKT signs contract for Traunreut project with Turboden
Aug 14, 2013 - German geothermal project developer Geothermische Kraftwerksgesellschaft Traunreut mbH (GKT) has signed a contract with Italian turbogenerator systems producer Turboden for the delivery of equipment for the 4.1 MW geothermal power plant in Traunreut, in Bavaria.
The plant is to produce electricity from thermal water as of mid-2015, gec-co Global Engineering & Consulting - Company GmbH, which is in charge of the plant construction planning, said yesterday. The facility will use the organic-rankine-cycle (ORC) technology and produce between 30,000 MWh and 35,000 MWh of electricity per year. This would be enough for the supply of up to 10,000 households.
Moreover, three Turboden electricity and heat producing plants are also to start operations in the state of Bavaria by the end of the year.
