Dec 23, 2011 - Wind park Baltic 1, owned by German utility EnBW (ETR:EBK), had suffered a slight performance setback after an unforeseen breakdown, Friederike Eggstein, a spokesperson of the company, told German news agency dpa today.
The wind park was shut down for maintenance reasons in September, this year. The plant, however, did not manage to go back on stream on September 15, 2011 as planned due to a problem with the transformer station, which had to be examined.
The 21 wind turbines, however, have good operational availability and they continued to perform well after the period of inactivity, Eggstein added.
The wind park is situated 16 km (9.942 miles) north of Fischland-Darss-Zingst peninsula and has output power of 48 MW.
Meanwhile, the company is preparing its wind park Baltic 2, which is located roughly 32 km north of the Ruegen island.
The project comprises 80 wind power turbines, made by German engineering and electronics group Siemens AG (ETR:SIE). Some of them are expected to start operation in 2013, whereas the complete wind park should be ready in 2014.
