German Baywa sells 16 MW wind park to Stadtwerke Stuttgart
Oct 21, 2013 - The renewable energy unit of German agricultural cooperative Baywa (ETR:BYW6) has sold a 16 MW wind park in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to regional utility Stadtwerke Stuttgart, the two companies said on Friday.
The Everswinkel wind farm is the first wind park owned by Stadtwerke Stuttgart. The utility, which wants to expand its renewable energy portfolio, paid EUR 25 million (USD 34.2m) for the facility.
The wind farm is located 20 km east of Muenster. The plant consists of eight 2 MW turbines and supplies green power to around 10,000 households.
Baywa r.e. renewable energy GmbH developed and constructed the park in two phases. The company initially installed three turbines in 2010 and added another five earlier this year.
Baywa r.e. will remain responsible for the operation of the wind park after the sale, the company said.
