GEOenergie kicks off construction of 10 MW geothermal project

(ADPnews) - Nov 24, 2010 - Germany-based GEOenergie Kirchweidach GmbH has broken ground on a 10 MW geothermal power plant in Kirchweidach, Bavaria.

The company started drilling of the 4-kilometres (2.5 miles) deep well last Friday.

The new geothermal project is calculated to gulp down EUR 50 million (USD 67m), which has been provided by SAM Management Group AG and private investors.

When completed in 2012, the facility will generate both electricity and heat for the district's 15,000 and 3,500 households respectively.
