Dec 13, 2012 - US biofuel producer Genuine Bio-Fuel Inc yesterday announced an expansion to Puerto Rico, where it will set up a biodiesel plant with an annual capacity of about 12 million gallons (54.6 million litres).
The Indiantown, Florida-based company will establish a subsidiary in Puerto Rico, called Caribbean Bio-Fuel Inc, that will service emerging Caribbean and South American markets.
The 35,000-sq ft (3,252 sq m) plant is scheduled to open in March next year. It will start operations with about 12 to 18 employees and will source raw materials and multi-feedstocks from Puerto Rico and surrounding islands, the company said.
Genuine Bio-Fuel says its technology reduces the time for producing biodiesel from hours to seconds. Since 2008, the company has been collecting used vegetable cooking oil, plant oils and fats, which it refines into green fuel.
