The renewables arm of US conglomerate General Electric Co (NYSE:GE) on Friday said it will supply wind turbines for a 70 MW power plant in Turkey.
Under an order that was placed by Turkish developer Dost Enerji back in December 2015, the US wind turbine maker will ship to the Bergres wind power plant near Izmir twenty one GE3.2-103 and one GE2.75-103 wind turbines. These models are specifically designed for medium-to-high wind speed sites and hub heights can range from 70 to 98 meters, GE said in a statement.
The tower and blades for the turbines will be manufactured in Turkey at a manufacturing site in Izmir.
GE will be responsible for logistics to site, installation, commissioning and also conduct service and maintenance activities for a period of 5 years.
Installation activities are scheduled to start in January 2017 and commercial operations are to start in May 2017.
When up and running, the Bergres power plant will bring the total wind power capacity managed by Dost Enerji to 185 MW.
Turkey is targeting a total capacity of 20 GW in the field of wind power and to generate 30% of its primary energy from renewable resources by 2023.
