GE kicks off wind turbine generator plant in Vietnam

(ADPnews) - Oct 18, 2010 - US conglomerate General Electric (NYSE:GE) on Friday opened a wind turbine generator manufacturing plant in Vietnam, aiming to tap rising demand for its wind turbine equipment worldwide.

GE said the commissioning of the facility is part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the energy industry.

The construction of the plant, located in Hai Phong, a port city in northern Vietnam, commenced in May 2009. In May, this year, it started first shipments of wind turbine generators and so far has shipped some 200 units during its test running. At present the plant is fully operational with 250 employees.
