GDF Suez opts for Portuguese partner in France's second wind offshore tender
Jul 23, 2013 - French gas utility GDF Suez (EPA:GSZ) yesterday said it will act in concert with Portugal's EDP Renewables (ELI:EDPR) in France's second wind offshore tender for a total of 1,000 MW in installed capacity.
In the first tender, which awarded 2,000 MW, GDF Suez was allied with nuclear group Areva (EPA:AREVA) but did not get any of the projects. The bulk of them went to a rival consortium between France's EDF (EPA:EDF) and Alstom (EPA:ALO), which now will once again participate with a joint bid.
Areva also has a role in the bid of GDF Suez-EDP Renewables as, if selected, the team will entrust it with the wind turbines' design and construction. The tender results are to be announced in 2014
Shares in GDF Suez had gained 1.05% to EUR 15.905 by 1227 CET today on Euronext Paris.
