April 16 (Renewables Now) - Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) will supply 166 MW of wind turbines for four projects in Spain under new deals with local utility Gas Natural Fenosa (BME:GAS).

Siemens Gamesa announced the contracts today, saying that it will deliver 48 pieces of the SG 3.4-132 turbine for projects Gas Natural won in the auction held in May 2017. The supplier will manufacture the blades for the machines at the Aoiz factory in Navarre, Spain, and the Tangier facility in Morocco. The nacelles, on the other hand, will be produced at the Agreda site in Soria, Spain.

In addition to manufacturing and commissioning the turbines, Siemens Gamesa will also operate and maintain the equipment at the four wind farms for a period of three years. The plants are expected to be commissioned in mid-2019.

Siemens Gamesa says it has installed almost 55% of Spain’s total installed wind capacity. It also services over 7,500 MW, which is about one-third of the country’s installed fleet.
