Spanish wind power group Gamesa (BME:GAM) said Tuesday it has received a repeat turnkey contract to build a 40-MW wind park in India for local independent power producer (IPP) ReNew Power.
The deal calls for Gamesa to deliver and install 20 pieces of its G97-2.0 MW class S turbines at the site of the wind project in Ron district, Karnataka state. The machine model is custom-designed for low wind speed sites. The height of its tower amounts to 104 metres (341.2 ft).
The company will handle all of the infrastructure necessary to install and operate the plant. Upon completion of the facility in September 2016, it will also provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services in the long term.
Gamesa and ReNew Power have already signed three turbine supply deals for 140 MW in the Indian states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. The Spanish company has to date installed nearly 2,600 MW of wind turbines in India.
“We are well placed to cater to the growing demand for renewable energy and we are confident that orders like this will help reinstate our commitment towards meeting renewable energy goals set by the government,” Gamesa India chairman and managing director, Ramesh Kymal, noted.
