Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa SA (BME:GAM) has agreed to deliver 30 MW of its machines for the second phase of the 50-MW Big Turtle project in the US state of Michigan.
Heritage Sustainable Energy has hired Gamesa to supply, install and commission 14 of its G114-2.1 MW turbines for the project. The Spanish firm expects to start deliveries of the machines in August 2016 and to commission the wind park in October of that year. The parties have also agreed for Gamesa to operate and maintain the facility for 12 years.
Gamesa was also the turbine supplier for the 20-MW Phase I of the project, delivering and installing 10 pieces of the G114-2.0 MW model in 2014.
The company noted that its global orderbook for the G114 models now surpasses 2 GW. Overall, in the US it has installed more than 4.1 GW to date.
