Spain’s Gamesa (BME:GAM) said on Friday it will supply 298 MW of its turbines for the El Cabo wind power complex in the US state of New Mexico.
The contract was awarded to Gamesa in the second quarter of 2016 by local power utility Avangrid Renewables, which is part of Spanish energy major Iberdrola (BME:IBE). It is one of the largest ever obtained by the wind turbine supplier, it noted.
Under the terms of the deal Gamesa will deliver 142 units of its G114-2.1 MW turbines, beginning in March 2017. Their commissioning is scheduled to start in June 2017.
Once the plant enters service, it is expected to generate enough power to cover the annual consumption of more than 200,000 homes.
