Gamesa to deliver first G97 wind turbine in the US
Aug 21, 2012 - Spanish Gamesa (MCE:GAM) said it would commence delivery to Minnesota of a G97-2.0 MW wind turbine, the first unit of that model to be installed in the US, for a 36-MW wind farm of Exergy Development Group.
Installation of 18 such machines is seen to kick off in September, the wind turbine maker said on Tuesday. The G97 unit, tailored for low-wind sites, has a more aerodynamic blade design and nacelle enhancements to optimise energy generation.
Exergy’s Big Blue wind farm is to start work before the year is over. The output, enough to cover the needs of some 20,000 local households, will be sold to Northern States Power.
This is the first order that Gamesa has received from independent green energy developer Exergy.
