Swiss energy company Fu-Gen AG said today it will build a 42-MW wind park in northern Sweden in partnership with British asset manager Abraxas Capital Management.
Estimated at EUR 56 million (USD 62.6m), the Fjallboheden wind project will be installed on privately-owned land near Skelleftea, using Vestas hardware. The Danish wind turbine maker will deliver 10 turbines in 2021 under a contract that has already been signed.
The wind park will be constructed under the direction of Cameus AB and Topwind Consultancy BV, with the installation of grid connection lines to start this month. Roads and foundations will be built during the summer of 2020. Once commissioned in the summer of 2021, the Fjallboheden wind farm will be capable of producing over 160 GWh of electricity annually, which will be enough to meet the demand of 6,500 homes.
Fu-Gen and Abraxas acquired the rights for the project from France’s Engie (EPA:ENGI) in July. According to Balthazar Cazac of Abraxas, Sweden is “an optimal core market” for the British firm’s Sustainable Investment Fund’s expansion and diversification, adding that the company plans to pursue more investment opportunities on the Swedish wind market together with Fu-Gen.
