French Safran, UK Cella Energy strike strategic partnership

(SeeNews) – Sep 23, 2014 - French high-tech group Safran (EPA:SAF), specialised in aerospace, defence and security equipment, said on Monday it had entered into a strategic partnership for development of hydrogen- based power systems with Cella Energy, an Oxford-based energy technology company.

Cella Energy has developed a lightweight material that stores hydrogen in a solid form and releases hydrogen quickly when heated to moderate temperatures, a statement by Safran says. The two companies would combine their expertise in hydrogen storage materials and in aerospace engineering to develop equipment that would use Cella’s material onboard aircraft.

The statement provides no financial details of the deal.
