Forewind seeks public opinion on 3-GW offshore wind project in UK - report
Dec 5, 2011 - This week residents in Yorkshire will be able to share their views on a proposed 3-GW offshore wind project at Dogger Bank near Hornsea, developed by the Forewind consortium, BBC News said.
Forewind comprises energy giants RWE Npower Renewables, a unit of German utility RWE AG (ETR:RWE), Scottish and Southern Energy (LON:SSE), Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft ASA and oil major Statoil ASA (OSL:STL). They intend to erect around 2,600 turbines at the site, making it one of the biggest offshore wind power complexes globally, the report said.
Public consultations will be launched in Bridlington, Beverley, Cottingham, Barmston and Brandesburton. The locations have been chosen for their proximity to the proposed onshore cable route that is to link the offshore project to the UK, BBC said.
