Infrastructure and private equity investment manager Foresight Group LLC said it has acquired 94 MW of wind farms in Spain from German renewables developer Wpd AG.
Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners (FEIP) purchased two wind farms located in the region of Castile and Leon for an undisclosed sum.
Commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2019, the wind farms operate under a ten-year fixed-price power purchase agreement (PPA) with Norwegian utility Statkraft AS. They also collect revenues through Spain’s support scheme for renewables secured in the country’s second and third call for tenders, Foresight said.
Wpd was behind the development, financing and construction of the projects. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) supplied a total of 27 units of G-132 3.465MW turbines for the parks and continues to provide long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) services. Wpd’s subsidiary, Wpd Windmanager, is providing operational management services.
With the latest acquisition, Foresight now has 800 MW of wind power assets under management and 2.5 GW of renewables in total.
