The third call for ocean energy support package applications under the EUR-11-million (USD 12.5m) FORESEA programme will be formally launched today, June 28, at the Orkney Ocean Energy Day.
The call, running through September 29, 2017, will be open to technologies ready to deploy and complete testing before 2019.
The FORESEA (Funding Ocean Renewable Energy through Strategic European Action) programme provides offshore renewable energy technologies with free access to a network of test centres, including the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Scotland, the SEM-REV in France, SmartBay in Ireland and Stichting Tidal Testing Centre in the Netherlands. As part of its two prior competitive calls for applications, the programme has awarded 25 “recommendations for support” to developers.
“As well as continuing to support marine energy convertor technologies, the 3rd FORESEA call will reach out to developers of products, services and key components that will enable the development of the ocean energy sector. We encourage the value chain to get involved, using their expertise to provide solutions that help de-risk the sector,” said EMEC Programme Manager, Nicolas Wallet.
