The deal, which was unveiled in February, strengthens Flender's existing wind drive business with a production and service network with an assembly capacity of 3 GW. It also adds capabilities in the area of services and gear manufacturing.
"Moventas’ expertise and product portfolio is a perfect fit into our strategy of being the trusted partner for the wind market and the more and more important energy transition”, Flender's chief executive Andreas Evertz said on Monday.
Based in Jyvaskyla, central Finland, Moventas designs, manufactures and services gearboxes for wind turbines and has reached an installed base of 22 GW.
Under the Winergy brand, Flender supplies gearboxes, generators and services for wind turbines and has already passed 200 GW in delivered gearbox capacity.
