Finnish Metso gets order for biomass CHP power plant in Sweden
Sep 23, 2013 - Finnish industrial machinery company Metso Oyj (HEL:MEO1V) said today it has won an order for the supply of a biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant with 17.2 MW thermal capacity and 3.8 MW electrical capacity for Swedish utility Oskarshamn Energi.
The value of the deal will not be disclosed, Metso said.
The order includes delivery of combustion technology, installation, training and commissioning. The CHP plant is scheduled to go into operation in the winter of 2015.
The new power plant will meet the increasing demand for heat and electricity in the southeast Swedish municipality of Oskarshamn. Following its completion, 99% of the district heating will be provided by renewable bio fuels, according to Oskarshamn Energi.
In addition, the plant will provide the local industry with process steam capacity of 4 MW. The biomass power plant will use forest residues as fuel.
