February 8 (Renewables Now) - Finnish renewable energy developer Taaleri Energia Ltd said today it has bought a 277-MW wind project in the US, its first investment in the North American country.

The USD-350-million (EUR 286m) project, named Truscott-Gilliland East, is situated in Texas’ Knox County and is scheduled for commissioning at the end of next year. Its seller is Truscott Gilliland Wind LLC, which was supported during the development of the scheme by Chermac Energy Corp.

The Finnish group, part of Taaleri plc, will work to complete the wind project in collaboration with North American development partner NorthRenew Energy. In the middle of this year, Taaleri Energia intends to start seeking financing for the project and will also look for co-investors to participate alongside its renewable energy fund, given the large size of the scheme.

Looking ahead, Taaleri Energia plans to further expand its portfolio in the US by adding new wind and solar projects in 2018, it said.
