Finerge, Guild Investments greenlit to take control of wind farms in Portugal

September 17 (Renewables Now) - Portugal's Competition Authority (AdC) has decided not to oppose a move put forward by Portuguese renewable power company Finerge SA and UK-based Guild Investments Limited to jointly own wind farm developer Empresas ACM.

AdC announced its decision on Wednesday, saying that their joint takeover "is not likely to create significant barriers to effective competition in the energy production market in Mainland Portugal".

Empresas ACM holds three wind energy outfits in Portugal -- Eolica da Arada - Empreendimentos Eolicos da Serra da Arada SA, Eolica da Cabreira SA and Eolica de Montemuro SA, as explained by the regulator, which started processing Finerge's and Guild's proposal in August.

The three wind farms were held by Guild, a holding company that is part of UK’s Local Pensions Partnership Investments group, and French utility Electricite de France SA (EPA:EDF).
