Finavera gets nod from McLeod Lake Indian Band for two wind projects
Dec 2, 2011 - Canadian Finavera Wind Energy Inc (CVE:FVR) has won approval from the McLeod Lake Indian Band for the development of two wind projects totalling 124 MW in the Peace Region of British Columbia.
The company said today it had inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the McLeod Lake Indian Band for its 47-MW Tumbler Ridge and 77-MW Wildmare projects.
Finavera announced in August that it had reached agreement in principle with the McLeod Lake Indian Band on the terms of a MoU for all of its four wind projects in the Peace Region. Today it said the two had decided to focus on the two near-term projects to ensure they had agreements in place before the Environmental Assessment Office decides on Finavera's environmental assessment applications. Discussions on the other two projects will continue.
Finavera signed a similar MoU with Halfway River First Nation last year and is looking to conclude agreements with three other First Nations.
