Denmark-based FairWind A/S on Tuesday said it has been hired to provide pre-assembly turbine erection services for the 344-MW Vesterhav Nord and Syd offshore wind farms at the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark.
The turnkey pre-assembly contract encompasses 41 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 direct drive (DD) turbines, each having a power generating capacity of 8.4 MW. FairWind will start work this month, while the wind farms are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023.
The financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
The Vesterhav Syd and Nord complex is owned by Swedish utility Vattenfall AB which took the final investment decision on the project in December 2021. The 176-MW Vesterhav Nord site will have 21 SG turbines, while the 168-MW Vesterhav Syd farm will be made up of 20 units.
