The government of the Spanish region of Extremadura published on Monday details on five new wind power projects totalling 130 MW that are initiating the administrative process stage.
The developer is a local firm, Instituto de Energias Renovables SL, which plans to invest more than EUR 119 million (USD 134.5m) in the five farms. The investment figure goes above EUR 132 million when the accompanying infrastructure for power evacuation is taken into account.
Project details are presented in the table below:

The regional government said that interested parties can examine the project documents and the environmental impact study and present comments over the following month.
Extremadura did not have a single wind farm on its ground before January 2019 when Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) brought online the 40-MW Merengue park. Spain’s western region was home to 564 MW of installed solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity at the end of 2018, according to the 2018 report by Spanish grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE). The region is expected to install 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
