Eurus Energy parties 41-MW wind farm in Akita

Japanese firm Eurus Energy Holdings Corp announced last week celebrated the start of commercial operations, which actually took place in May, of a 41.6-MW wind farm in Akita prefecture.

The Eurus Higashiyurihara Wind Farm, as it is named, consists of 13 wind turbines of 3.2 MW each, supplied by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE). The facility is Eurus' fifth wind power plant in Akita Prefecture, the company noted.

With the completion of this power plant, the total domestic capacity of wind and photovoltaic (PV) power generation facilities owned by the Japanese firm has surpassed 1 GW.

Currently, Eurus has approximately 750 MW of wind plants in 30 locations and 250 MW of solar capacity in other nine locations in Japan. The company plans to continue investing in green power generation as the push for carbon reduction continues in the country. The government is aiming to position renewable energy as main power source by 2030.
