European Energy to supply e-methanol to Korean shipping co HMM

Danish renewables developer European Energy A/S has agreed to form a partnership with HMM Co Ltd (KRX:011200) under which it will supply methanol to the Korean shipping company for its newly-ordered fleet of green vessels.

The two companies have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU), as announced by European Energy on Wednesday. It outlines the Danish firm’s commitment to helping HMM establish a green methanol supply chain.

European Energy is currently building a facility in Aabenraa municipality of southern Denmark to produce 32,000 tonnes of e-methanol a year. The plant is expected to begin production by the end of the year.

HMM, on the other hand, has ordered nine dual-fuel container vessels for deployment on the Asia-North/Latin America trade lanes and the Asia-India routes. They are seen to be delivered in the period 2025-2026.
