March 15 (Renewables Now) - Copenhagen-based wind and solar developer European Energy A/S announced today it has agreed to acquire the 21-MW Sprogo offshore wind park in Danish waters.

European Energy will buy the owner of the plant, Sprogo Windpark, from Storebaelt A/S for an undisclosed sum. The transaction should be wrapped up by June 1, 2018, upon receiving the needed approvals.

“We believe that offshore wind has a place in the future energy mix, alongside onshore wind and solar energy. With the acquisition of Sprogo Windpark we have all three elements in our portfolio,” said CEO Knud Erik Andersen.

The seven-turbine wind park is located in the Great Belt strait between the islands of Zealand and Funen. The electricity generated by the plant is enough to meet the annual consumption of about 16,000 homes.
