French green energy developer Eole-Res SA announced last week it will change its name to RES, in order to relate better to its UK-based parent company Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES).
The move is also prompted by the developer's desire its name to reflect better the diversified nature of its projects.
Wind (eole in French) has long since ceased to be the only business of the company which made its first investment in photovoltaics back in 2008.
The new identity will bring greater visibility for the group in all 14 markets where it operates and will allow it to pursue a more dynamic growth across its five priority business areas: wind and solar power generation, energy storage, demand side management and electricity transmission.
In France, RES currently has 632 MW of wind and solar power plants in operation or under construction, which makes it one of the key players on the market.
The change of name represent an important milestone in the history of the company. It symbolises both the expansion of business activities and the ambitions for growth on a truly global scale, said Jean-Marc Armitano, president of RES in France and general manager for the EMEA region.
