EnviTec Biogas AG (ETR:ETG) has started construction on a gas upgrading plant in Denmark with a capacity of 524 standard cu m (18,500 cu ft), the German biogas plant specialist said last week.
The facility, named EnviThan, is located in the town of Hammel and is being built for WEFRI A/S, an agricultural company which is the largest land owner in Denmark. It will run on grass silage, sugar beets, straw, chicken manure and glycerine, and will supply gas to the local gas network of HMN Naturgas from the summer of 2016.
The Danish government has set a target of using half of the manure for biogas generation by 2020 and has been providing support for the construction of biogas plants since 2012, the German firm noted. Its biogas production capacity is expected to increase from 32 million cu m at the beginning of 2015 to 76 million cu m by the end of 2015 and 179 million cu m by the end of 2016.
