Chinese green technology firm Envision Group today announced plans to achieve net-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in its worldwide operations by 2022 and across its value chain by 2028.
This is the most ambitious target that covers the whole value chain set by a Chinese company to date.
Together with one of its strategic net-zero partners, Sequoia Capital China, Envision launched a programme to provide funding and support to carbon neutral technology innovators. Other partners include tech giant Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and real estate group CapitaLand.
"To achieve carbon neutrality, we need new technologies. Technology is the most important element in energy transition, in which digital technology will play a critical role," Neil Shen of Sequoia Capital commented.
Envision provides wind turbines and storage systems through Envision Energy as well as smart batteries and operating systems powered by artificial intelligence through Envision AESC and Envision Digital, respectively.
