July 10 (Renewables Now) - Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) is set to supply turbines for the 312-MW Gecama wind farm project that Israel’s Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TLV:ENLT) is developing in Spain.

The German turbine maker said Friday it had booked an order to deliver and install N149/4.0-4.5 machines in 4.8-MW operating mode. Its contract includes a 20-year premium service agreement.

The Gecama wind farm will be erected near the city of Cuenca in the Castile-La Mancha region. Nordex will install its Delta4000 turbines with a hub height of 120 metres on concrete towers. The company will be making its own towers in a factory it is currently building in the nearby municipality of Motilla del Palancar.

The towers factory is slated to start operations this August.

The nacelles and rotor blades for Gecama will also be made in Spain, Nordex said.

Gecama is Enlight’s first project in the country. Once commissioned, the wind farm will be capable of generating enough power to supply 260,000 households. It’s output will be sold at market prices.
