Energiekontor hits 500 MW installed wind capacity

(ADPnews) - Oct 21, 2010 - German wind project developer Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKT) yesterday announced it hit 500 MW of installed wind capacity.

Since its foundation in 1990, the company has invested over EUR 740 million (USD 1bn) in wind project developments. It has so far realised more than 70 wind farms in Germany, Portugal and the UK.

The company's plans for the coming years include repowering of existing wind facilities and construction of new wind farms with a total capacity of 300 MW.

Energiekontor already started with its repowering plan, replacing the 600 kW turbines at its Wremen II wind farm with 2 MW generators. Thus, the wind power plant's annual electricity output rose to 23.5 million kWh from 5.9 million kWh.
