Enercoop to buy electricity from France's first trigeneration power plant

September 11 (SeeNews ) - French green energy supplier Enercoop has agreed to buy electricity from France's first biomass-fired trigeneration plant in the Port Marianne district of Montpellier.

Fired on regionally sourced wood from the Languedoc-Roussillon area, the recently inaugurated facility produces heat, cold and electricity. It has a total installed capacity of 8.5 MW, but also uses an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) module to boost output.

The plant supplies hot water and heating for more than a million square metres of homes, businesses and public buildings around the Port Marianne area, while the cooling is used by offices and retailers in the same part of the city. Electricity from the plant will be supplied to the grid via Enercoop.

Enercoop is the only 100% green energy supplier in France. It operates in the whole of France via a network of 10 local cooperatives.At present, the company supplies 23,000 consumers and buys power from 100 renewable energy producers.
