Enercon to supply turbines for 230-MW wind project in Canada
Sep 29, 2011 - Canadian Niagara Region Wind Corp (NRWC) on Tuesday said it had contracted German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon GmbH to supply 230 MW of wind turbines for its Niagara Region wind project in the province of Ontario.
As part of the agreement, Enercon will also build a factory for converters and control panels for the wind and solar power industries in the Niagara region. The company will set up a concrete tower production site in the region as well.
The production plant will enable NRWC to meet domestic content requirements under the Ontario Power Authority's feed-in tariff (FIT) programme, the company said. It received a FIT contract for the proposed wind project in February this year.
