German wind turbine maker Enercon GmbH has sold a majority stake in the 252.7-MW Markbygden Phase II wind farm project in Sweden, it said on Wednesday.
Up to 85% of the project’s shares are being offloaded to Swiss investor Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners AG (CSEIP) for an undisclosed sum. As a result, Enercon will continue to be a long-term shareholder in the scheme, keeping a minority interest.
The Markbygden Phase II wind farm will be installed in the municipality of Pitea, in the northern province of Norrbotten. It will be equipped with 63 units of Enercon’s E-138 EP3 turbines that will form the so-called “northern part” of the MB Etapp II cluster of wind farms.
Construction works on this phase are slated to begin at the end of 2021’s third quarter. The “southern part” of the complex with its 97 E-138 EP3 turbines will be installed subsequently.
Apart from being the equipment supplier, Enercon will also be in charge of the commercial and technical operation of Markbygden Phase II.
DNB Markets was Enercon financial advisor in the sale, while legal counsel was provided by Cirio.
