Enel wins 106.3 MW of wind, hydro projects in Italy

Endesa's Enel Green Power Espana wind parks

June 1 (Renewables Now) - Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) announced on Friday its renewables arm Enel Green Power (EGP) was awarded 106.3 MW of capacity in Italy's recent tenders.

Held by the Italian state-owned energy service system operator Gestore dei Servizi Energetici GSE SpA, the auctions targeted 500 MW of new wind and solar projects and 98.5 MW for renovations of existing renewable energy plants.

Of the awarded total capacity, the Italian group secured 68 MW for two new wind projects and 38.3 MW of nominal capacity for the repowering of three already-operational hydropower plants (HPPs).

Construction of the new wind farms will take place in the administrative regions of Campania and Basilicata, while the upgrading and useful life extension works concern the HPPs that are located in the provinces of Bologna, Arezzo and Modena, Enel noted.

In January, the company secured 80 MW of capacity in a similar tender.
